The issue

My name is Thomas Goulding, and I’ve been playing baseball, softball, and teeball for over 10 years. Baseball is a passion I’ve carried with me throughout my life, and I’m proud to be deeply involved in the sport as a Perth Heat Diamond member. My younger brother also plays for the Southern Hills Warriors, and we are both part of a growing baseball community in Western Australia.

The love for baseball in our region is only growing, and it’s time for us to invest in the facilities that can support this growth. Empire Ballpark has the potential to become more than just a local venue—it could become a world-class facility on par with the likes of Optus Stadium. With the nearby Nicholson Road Train Station, the ballpark is in the perfect location to attract more visitors and elevate baseball in Western Australia.

We are calling on the government to invest in vital upgrades to Empire Ballpark, improving its facilities and infrastructure. This would open the door for major events, including the possibility of hosting MLB games in the future, and solidify Empire Ballpark as the central hub for baseball in Australia.

By signing this petition, you are helping create a legacy for future generations, bringing more opportunities to baseball players in WA, and showing the world that Western Australia is ready for the next step in the growth of the sport.

Please support the future of baseball in WA—sign the petition today!

Short Term Goal  (0–6 months): Build public and community support through a petition, local media, and engagement with government to show there’s strong demand for a major upgrade to Empire Ballpark.

Medium Term Goal (6 months – 2 years): Upgrade Empire Ballpark into a modern, multi-use venue that supports local clubs, school competitions, Perth Heat games, and national baseball events — with improved seating, lighting, and public transport access. Potentially even an enclosed dome.

Long Term Goal (2–6+ years): Position Empire Ballpark as a world-class destination capable of hosting MLB exhibition games, attracting tourism, boosting the WA economy, and creating a true home for baseball in Australia.
