Protest against the proposed construction of the 251 meters high Lord Ram Statue
The Issue
In competition with The Shivaji statue in Mumbai and our very own, Statue of Unity, Uttar Pradesh Government will start the construction of Lord Ram statue in Ayodhya. This 251 meters tall statue will be the tallest statue in the world and people are actually proud of that.
Is the government really this blind? OR is it trying to distract people from its incompetence? How can something like this get approval when there are cities and states facing drought and others facing floods.
Do they not know that construction of such massive structures requires an abundance of resources, which we do not have!
This has become a trend since the Statue of Unity, taller and taller statues are being constructed or proposed, and for what!? What possible, logical reason could such a massive sculpture serve.
We need to band together and tell the Government once and for all that we as citizens of this country will not stand by such mindless constructions. If the Govt. won't pay attention to the real problems of this country then we will have to make them.
It is your money being wasted on this, your resources, one will argue that this creates jobs to many people, but there are a lot of things that the government could focus on which will also create jobs and long term ones.
We as a country are on the front lines facing the repercussions of massive Climate Change, 7-8 of the top 10 most polluted cities in the world are in India. We are again on the front lines of contributing about 60% percent of the plastic waste that seeps into our oceans.
There is food adulteration, corruption, women safety, and the endless list of problems that this country is facing today, and yet, we are focusing our monetary and non-monetary resources on building statues.
This is not keeping yours and my interest in mind, it is banking on people's blind faith and securing a win in the next elections. This nothing more than an ego war, now it is up to the people to decide if it's worth it or not.
