Lucy Johnson started this petition to University of Liverpool

On the 4th of February 2020, the University of Liverpool announced that there would be a further period of strike action taking place on the following dates; 20, 21, 24-26 of February. For many final year students, this is the third academic year of strike action. In 2018, there was strike action from the 22nd of February to the 16th of March. In late 2019 there was strike action from the 25th of November to the 6th December. We are demanding financial compensation from the University for the disruption to our studies and the interruption of the quality of academic material received. As students, we have signed up to pay back our student debt were possible, how is it fair that we are still required to pay for a service that we have not received in full? Would you compensate a builder for constructing only half of a building? Whilst we completely understand and agree with the reasons for the strikes and side with the striking lecturers the situation invites a simple question. If our tuition fees are not going towards the pensions of lecturers and university staff where are they going? We demand the compensation of the total days we have lost as a result of strike action and hope that we are the last academic year to suffer the burden of strike action and inadequate working conditions of university staff.
