Glucksman Library, the University of Limerick Campus Library, is currently opening at 9am until 5pm, Monday to Friday. The student body is being deprived of a much needed study space because these opening times do not correspond with students’ timetables. Tutorials and lectures take place through out the day between 9am-5pm, due to remote learning students must now listen and participate with their classes online, which for a variety of reasons is not possible in the library. Many students are spending all day participating in classes/lectures from their bedrooms, without the option of leaving to go to the library, and this in turn has a very detrimental effect on their mental health. Other colleges in Ireland such as UCD and NUIG are operating at normal opening hours so we believe this opportunity should be given to University of Limerick students also. This is a petition to bring back the normal library opening hours and for it to reopen on the weekends. Please sign and share with fellow UL students.
