£9,250 per year for the use of excellent on-campus facilities, a stimulating in-person teaching environment, opportunities for face to face interactions with other students, social events (clubs and societies), development of friendships and so much more. This seems justified. What does not seem justified is being expected to pay this same fee for a completely reduced service. 

If the Open University charges £3,096 per year for home/online study, what is the justification of UEA charging the full £9,250 for virtually (no pun intended) the same thing. How is this fair?

As Universities are independent institutions, we cannot direct this petition to the UK Parliament and are therefore hopeful that UEA will take the necessary steps to set the example for other Universities to follow. 

The wellbeing of students has failed to be fully considered in the implementation of this ill-considered plan.With bare minimal work spaces, students are trapped in their four-walls of accommodation with WiFi/Online services that repeatedly fail to work, due to the systems being overwhelmed. Universities are meant to focus on the futures of young people and yet UEA seem comfortable taking £9,250 from almost 17,000 students, in exchange for a substandard service; sending the evident message that their students are seen as nothing more than walking cheques.

Unprecedented times call for unprecedented measures. Charge UEA students realistic tuition fees for the services provided in 2020.
