Stop Joshua Project and End conversions of Indigenous peoples now

The Issue

The Joshua Project is a Christian organization founded in 1955 and based in Colorado Springs, United States. It seeks to convert as many ethnic tribes around the world as possible. Their main target is India, and they are a threat to indigenous diversity. By promoting evangelism, they are also promoting discrimination against those who are not of this faith.

This petition asserts that all tribes should be free to practice their own beliefs without intervention or coercion from external forces. Many of these tribes are now almost extinct and if we don't act now to stop Joshua Project, we will be aiding in the demise of these irreplaceable cultures that could have had something precious and different to teach us about the world. By its mission, it is clear that the Joshua Project does not respect religious and cultural diversity and this is why it should be stopped now before it's too late.

According to Wikipedia, "the project maintains a database of "unreached peoples" listed by country and language. As of 2010, they list 9,803 ethnic groups. These are further divided into 16,350 peoples-by-countries, counting national minorities individually for each of 236 countries, of which 6,642 are classified as "unreached peoples". Ethnic groups are organized hierarchically in 251 "People Clusters" which in turn are divided in 16 "Affinity Blocs" (Arab World, East Asians, Eurasians, Horn of Africa-Cushitic, Iranian-Median, Jews, Latin-Caribbean Americans, Malay peoples, North American peoples, Pacific Islanders, South Asians, Southeast Asians, Sub-Saharan Africans, Tibetan / Himalayan peoples, Turkic peoples and Unclassified)."

This gives you an idea of how many tribes are under threat. We live in a world where cultural diversity should be respected. Historically, failure to do so has resulted in genocide of various tribes including Native American peoples, among many others. We cannot allow this to happen to the few remaining tribes in the world, whose numbers are now desperately low due to these conversion campaigns.

These people are poor, mainly uneducated, exploited, vulnerable and voiceless, and that's why they need your help to stop Joshua Project from manipulating their society and destroying their customs and traditions in the name of conversions. They are not given a fair choice because deceptive practices are used in claiming that the Joshua Project way is superior to their way of life.

Think about it, would you like someone to invade your territory and tell you how to live? Indigenous tribes should be free to practice their own beliefs without external manipulation. Freedom from discrimination is a basic human right but it cannot be achieved if there is no respect for diversity. The Joshua Project is infringing on the rights of these multi-ethnic tribes to exist as they are. These people should be protected from such exploitation.
