Let Dzhokhar speak at his upcoming trial

The Issue

Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev was convicted of 30 charges in 2015, related to the Boston Marathon Bombing in 2013, in which 3 died and about 264 were injured. In no way are we claiming his innocence or condone, but we want to shed light on how unfairly he has been treated. Please take a moment to read this.

Did you know that Tsarnaev only had the chance to speak once during the trials? A new court date is set for 13th October 2021 after Tsarnaev filed a lawsuit against ADMAX, where he is currently being held, for his horrible treatment. The hearing SCOTUS has granted, will also discuss a complaint filed by Tsarnaev of the possibility of the jury being biased in 2015, and discuss whether or not the death sentence should be reinstated for Tsarnaev after it was overturned to a life sentence in July 2020. Tsarnaev has also been under SAMs restrictions for several years, which limits his correspondence to only immediate family and attorneys, thus depriving him of contact with friends and extended family, as well as interviews. All his appeals have been denied.

We want to hear Tsarnaev's side of the story. We want the American justice system to let Tsarnaev speak on the upcoming trial- with audio. Not only that, we also wish for his SAMs restrictions to be lifted. ADMAX claims that all inmates are allowed to correspond with beyond family members, yet more notorious criminals than Tsarnaev have been approved for it, whereas he is still denied this right. By signing this petition, you are contributing to another step closer for Tsarnaev's voice to be heard- another step closer for us to learn more about him.

Tsarnaev was known as a nice person throughout all his life. Friends and former teachers have all stated that he was a social person who cared a lot about others. Tsarnaev was also known for being a hard-working student, wanting to help others, graduating with honors from high school, being in a wrestling team and so much more. Tsarnaev was a normal 19 year old boy with such a bright future at that time, but ended up on a dark path by his radicalized brother, who died in a shootout during the manhunt for the brothers. Yes, Tsarnaev is guilty on a lot of counts, no doubt about that, but he doesn't deserve being treated like this. He doesn't deserve the horrible treatment he's getting in ADMAX, which DOJ and United States Supreme Court can do something about. He doesn't deserve capital punishment yet again, which POTUS and VPOTUS can do something about. He doesn't deserve being deprived of rights that other inmates are allowed. He deserves justice. He deserves to let his voice get heard. He deserves to be treated as a human- to be treated as fairly as other inmates.

If you want to contact the DOJ directly, you can do so following this link: https://www.justice.gov/doj/webform/your-message-department-justice

We have chosen the options "Civil Rights", "Criminal Law", "Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)", "Prisons (BOP)", "U.S. Attorneys" and "Messages to the Attorney General", but you can pick as many as you want (such as "Office of Legal Counsel" or "Justice Programs"). Template that you can use for your message:

"To whom it may concern,

My name is _____ and I am contacting the DOJ on behalf of Dzhokhar Anzorovich Tsarnaev. I demand that Mr. Tsarnaev receives the possibility to speak at his trial, and that this audio gets released. The public has yet to hear Mr. Tsarnaev's in-depth side of the story, instead of a written statement, as each convicted person has the right to per the 1st amendment. Per the 1st amendment, Mr. Tsarnaev has also been under unnecessary continuation of SAMs restrictions at ADMAX, where he is currently incarcerated. The SAMs restrictions are limiting his correspondence to only immediate family and attorneys, thus depriving him of contact with friends and extended family, as well as interviews. All his appeals have been denied. ADMAX claims that all inmates are allowed to correspond with beyond family members, yet more notorious criminals than Mr. Tsarnaev have been approved for it, whereas he is still denied this right. He has been deprived of the basic rights inmates have in USA, which violates the 8th amendment. The overturning of his death sentence commuted to life sentence was a step in the right direction, but the discussion of reinstating the original charge is a step back and into the wrong direction. The DOJ must take a look at Mr. Tsarnaev's case, and take all facts and factors into consideration; he deserves a fair trial under the 2021-2022 SCOTUS term and he deserves proper justice. Is it not contradicting the American values of equality, when Mr. Tsarnaev is being treated this way?

Sincerely,

_____"
