Repeal Anti-LBGTQ+ Law in India

Repeal Anti-LBGTQ+ Law in India
The Issue
In India, transgender people are entitled to human rights, but people who engage in consensual homosexual relations can be arrested and/or killed. In fact, homosexuality is a taboo subject in society. For a country that risked death to gain their freedom, going to jail for your sexual orientation does not seem right.
You cannot practice tolerance if you do not let other people choose whom they are in relationships with. Arranged marriages in India is a cultural thing, but the practice of not accepting people's gender identities and sexual orientation is a violation of a fundamental human right. On top of that, the laws created, condemning homosexual relationships, were made during British rule, not Indian. It's time that we change this British Empire remnant and move on for the greater good.
The UN was created "to promote social progress", and this is progress that we need to make in India, a country with the population of 1.324 billion people. That is potentially over a billion of people who could identify as homosexual, or bisexual, but legally cannot.
On December 14th, 2008, the United Nations released a statement that affirmed a simple human rights statement; equality and rights for everyone "regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.” Sexual orientation is whom you're attracted to and gender identity is what/which gender(s) you identify with. In 2017, India rejected a resolution from the UN to take away its death penalty for being in a same-sex relationship. I would like for the UN and The International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, and Intersex Association to repeal Section 377 (in India), as it is against one of the founding principles of the UN: "to practice tolerance and live together in peace...". Because of this, the LBGTQ is not a matter for India as a country to decide on; it's an affair that the UN has the final say. After all, India was a founding member of the United Nations. The Anti-LBGTQ Law is promotes violence against humans who are openly homosexual, which is something that is a violence against humanity: another violation of the UN's founding principles.
This is a personal matter for me, and I would greatly appreciate it if you could support me by signing this petition and spreading the word. It is not okay to be imprisoned, or even killed, because of whom you're attracted to. Spread the word; we need this inhumane legislation to be repealed immediately.
