Appeal to United Nations: Kukur Tihar be announced as International Dog Day

Appeal to United Nations: Kukur Tihar be announced as International Dog Day
The Issue
It is time that we have an "International Dog Day" in honour of our best friends forever.
The only festival in the World for Dogs is "Kukur Tihar" celebrated by Gurkhas and other Hindu communities in Nepal, India and Bhutan.
Why You Should Sign the Petition?
The World is facing a lot of hate crimes ranging from terror attacks to hate (racial) crimes. This can only be solved by increasing Love and Peace, and this cannot be limited to humans but needs to be extended to animals.
Being the first Pet and the most popular pet in the World, Dogs deserve to get the first attention and have a Day dedicated to them. This day will be celebrated World over by increasing awareness related to benefits of having dogs as companions, dog food safety works, global dog trade and dog products trade, and the spiritual enlightenment by loving animals as part of daily living.
Once a person starts loving animals, he can never hate another human. Thus contributes to World Peace.
History :
Nepal and India started to domesticate the Dogs (Source: ABC News)
Nepal (and Indian hills) is the only country that has festival related to Dogs
Nepal and several parts of Indian hills already celebrate this amazing festivals, and now is the time for us to take it global. Like Yoga, Kukur Tihar can be a gift that will feed the souls of the people and can bring peace in the World.
And, this Kukur Tihar is not for one particular breed of dogs. It's for dogs in general and our own local dogs from Mastiffs to Indies have been enjoying it for centuries.
