United Airlines: Reverse Increases to Lounge Membership and Rewards Credit Card Fees

United Airlines: Reverse Increases to Lounge Membership and Rewards Credit Card Fees
The Issue
As loyal customers of United Airlines, we want to express our deep concern regarding the recent announcement of significant fee increases for United Club memberships and co-branded credit cards. These changes pose a financial burden on your dedicated clientele and may diminish the value of United's loyalty programs.
United Club Membership Fee Increases:
- Individual memberships have risen to $750 annually, up from $650 for non-elite status members.
- Memberships that include access for up to two guests now cost $1,400, a significant increase from previous rates.
Co-Branded Credit Card Annual Fee Increases:
- The United Explorer Card's annual fee has increased to $150 from $95.
- The United Quest Card's fee has risen to $350 from $250.
- The United Club Card now costs $695 annually, up from $525.
While we acknowledge the introduction of new benefits such as airline and ride-share credits and hotel booking awards, these additions do not sufficiently offset the financial impact of the increased fees.
It already costs so much to fly. Airlines, including United, have been stripping away benefits and shrinking our personal space on planes. Card holders and club members are your most loyal customers – why are you punishing us?
We urge United Airlines to reverse the planned increases to United Club membership fees and co-branded credit card annual fees. Maintaining more accessible pricing structures will demonstrate United's commitment to its valued customers and reinforce the loyalty that has been a cornerstone of the airline's success.
