Recently, plans have been announced for the North Humber to High Marnham Great Grid Update, a project that involves running pylons and power lines through our beloved villages and, more distressingly, over some of our own lands.

Originally, the planners considered a west route, which affects fewer properties. However, they shifted their focus to an east route that directly impacts our villages, citing flight paths as one concern in the west. This raises a troubling question: Are these decisions being made to cater to the wealthier areas, while we bear the brunt of their plans? Plans were shifted to the East route after a mere 500 objections.

The consequences of this project are severe and far-reaching. The towering pylons and sprawling power lines will mar our picturesque landscapes, reduce property values, and disrupt our lives with constant construction and maintenance. The noise pollution alone will be unbearable, disrupting our peace and quiet, and affecting our daily lives. Our farmers, who work tirelessly to sustain us, face an uncertain future with potential solar farms that could force them out of business. This isn’t just about preserving our scenic views; it’s about protecting our livelihoods, our health, and the very fabric of our community.

Additionally, we must consider the impact on our animals and children. The noise pollution will not only disturb us but also our livestock and pets, potentially causing stress and health issues. Our children’s lives and futures are at stake. Growing up in a disrupted environment can affect their well-being, education, and development. We owe it to them to ensure they have a safe, peaceful, and thriving community to call home.

We cannot stand idly by and let this happen. We must unite and fight against these plans to ensure they do not go ahead. This is not just a local issue; it’s a battle for fairness and justice. Together, we can challenge these plans and advocate for a solution that does not disproportionately harm our villages.

Let’s stand together, strong and resolute. Let’s raise our voices and show that we will not be overlooked or trampled upon. Our community’s spirit, strength, and unity will be our greatest assets in this fight.
