Make suitable adjustments for students disrupted by strikes and now by Covid-19!

The Issue

Studying at University is an incredibly stressful experience with an overwhelming workload. However, when you throw a month of lecturer strikes into the mix, followed by a global pandemic the task of graduating feels even further out of reach.

At certain universities third year students throughout the UK are being told their dissertation and final year assignments will still be due in at the same time, and the same standard of work will be expected with no adjustments given! This is despite having not received a full week of teaching since week 3 of the semester (we are now in week 9!!!!).

I propose all UK universities should extend final year deadlines, and introduce a certain degree of leniency for all students whose £27,750 qualification has been disrupted and left them disadvantaged. All 2020 graduates have been entirely neglected in the chaos of Covid-19 and they deserve justice. Not only this, but 2021 graduates and even 2022 graduates may feel the ramifications of strikes and coronavirus as their degree progresses. They too deserve to have this injustice addressed.

Please sign this petition to call for all universities to take action and make suitable adjustments for all students who have been unfairly disadvantaged while studying a degree.
