Reverse grade boundary changes for BTEC Tech Awards certification 2019!

Following information distributed by Pearson on Friday 16/8/19, students receiving their GCSE/BTEC results next week face lower grades then they have rightfully earned based on the exam boards decision to increase the grade boundaries. This means that most students will receive one grade lower than what they have achieved. Students studying BTEC Tech Award in health and social care, engineering, enterprise, performing arts and media (where claims are made for 2019) are going to be affected.

Due to the lack of organisation and information shared with teachers and organisations about these changes many students have missed an opportunity to resit the exam as they believed (and were guided using Pearson's own grade calculator) that their grades were secure!

Not only that but (for example) a student achieving 2 merit units of coursework (29 points each) and a low merit in the exam (36 points) they would achieve 94 points. This would have given them a strong Level 2 Merit. Following the boundary changes, this student would now achieve a level 2 Pass grade! Even though they had secured 3 merits.

Solution - make these changes for students studying from September onwards and leave the grades as they are for the students collecting results next week - as these students have already complete KS4 education.
