I am asking for your help to bring justice for my sweet little cat Lilly. Lilly was my disabled daughter’s therapy cat, who on Wednesday 11th August 2021, was mauled, used as a chew-toy and murdered by two Husky dogs, who had got loose.
Lilly was a popular member of the community and very well loved. I lodged a complaint with the police, however, no charges have been brought. Now I have concerns which I will list below:
1. My children are absolutely traumatised by the event as they where with me when we found our Lilly.
2. The dogs jumped over my gate and broke into my property to hunt my cat down, which I have CCTV footage of.
3. I am now scared to let my children into the garden in case the dogs come back, as I fear the dogs will injure or worse, kill my young children, with one being disabled and therefor vulnerable.
4. I'm now afraid to let my other 2 cats out, in case the incident happens again, as this is not the first time that these 2 dogs in question have done this.
5. All our community is now terrified for our pets and also our children, as it happened in our neighbour’s garden where children live.
6. This is not the first time that these 2 dogs have killed people's pets. In the incident that occurred on 11/08/2021, these 2 dogs injured and/or killed in total 5 animals. They even tore into a rabbit hutch and killed the terrified pet rabbit inside. Last year they killed a further 2 cats.
My question to you is can you help us? The owner shows no remorse and couldn't care less. My disabled daughter will now not eat or sleep as she is too scared that these dogs are going to, in her words, 'kill her like they killed Lilly’.
Our community should not be living in fear of dogs who are out of control and who have reckless owners who leave them unsupervised. I hope you can help me to get this situation resolved and bring justice, not only to my cat, but to all the pet owners and parents who had to witness and go through this trauma on the 11th of August.
If your dog were to injure or kill another beloved animal, then you should be held fully responsible for any vet and/or crematorium bills, replacement costs (particularly for therapy animals) and professional steps should be taken to ensure that this never happens again, including dog and owner retraining, if needs be.
