Do you want to see $50 Billion taxpayer dollars spent on shoring up aging, uneconomic nuclear facilities? Several bills are currently circulating through Congress that would provide massive subsidies to the nuclear industry for its old, dirty, dangerous, and expensive nuclear plants. This bailout would undercut the intent of the Infrastructure Plan to take bold climate action and create jobs for an economic recovery. It would severely impede effective climate solutions by diverting money and resources away from renewable energy development, energy efficiency, and other climate solutions and innovations.

We can and we must set the country on the path to 100% renewable energy by 2035 – fossil fuel-free and nuclear-free. The best investment for the climate, jobs, and the economy is in a rapid transition to a renewable, modern energy system - phasing out nuclear energy along with fossil fuels. That means NUCLEAR BAILOUT SUBSIDIES MUST NOT be included in any infrastructure plan.
