DEMAND AN INVESTIGATION ON THE INFILTRATION OF LAW ENFORCEMENT BY WHITE SUPREMACIST GROUPS

DEMAND AN INVESTIGATION ON THE INFILTRATION OF LAW ENFORCEMENT BY WHITE SUPREMACIST GROUPS
The Issue
WHY:
There is a clear infiltration and cooperation between white supremacists groups, and law enforcement. We need to band together and raise our voices to demand that an in-depth investigation takes place in order to begin dismantling groups who aim to abuse, torture, and kill minority groups. Everyday BIPOC, African American, Latinx, Native, and all People of Color live in fear of the racist, terroristic organization that is the police. We see it constantly. With the actions that occurred at the US Capitol building on 1/6/2021, it has been made clear that protests begging for human lives to be treated as precious as they are will be met with unwavering violence, hatred, and death, but white terrorists will be told, "We love you. You’re very special. You’ve seen what happens. You see the way others are treated that are so bad and so evil. I know how you feel. But go home and go home in peace" (Donald J. Trump, Jan. 6 2021). Please sign this petition to demand an in-depth investigation with action following on the obvious infiltration of white supremacist/terrorist groups within law enforcement. If this investigation with swift action does not take place, countless more Black, Indigenous, Latinx, and POC lives will be lost due to a historically racist institution that was put into place to keep down, abuse, and kill.
PROOF:
- According to the Brennan Center, "Alarmingly, internal FBI policy documents have also warned agents assigned to domestic terrorism cases that the white supremacist and anti-government militia groups they investigate often have “active links” to law enforcement officials" (Federal Bureau of Investigation, Counterterrorism Division, Counterterrorism Policy Directive and Policy Guide, April 1, 2015 (updated November 18, 2015)).
- An article from The Appeal, the 2006 FBI created a Bulletin titled, "White Supremacist Infiltration of Law Enforcement" it was noted, "In the 2006 bulletin, the FBI detailed the threat of white nationalists and skinheads infiltrating police in order to disrupt investigations against fellow members and recruit other supremacists" (The Appeal, 2017).
- White Supremacists also assume the title of "ghost skins." These are terrorists who do not outwardly show their horrible beliefs, but hide them in order to blend into society and assume roles of power (i.e. police). PBS wrote, "At least one white supremacist group has reportedly encouraged ghost skins to seek positions in law enforcement for the capability of alerting skinhead crews of pending investigative action against them" This was also pulled from The Bulletin by the FBI (PBS, 2016).
- In fact, Victor E. Kappeler, the Associate Dean and Foundation Professor for the School of Justice Studies at Eastern Kentucky University wrote in his research, the southern police institution had originally been titled "Slave Patrol" in 1704, and although the south is the most known for this, many other states such as New York, Connecticut, and more had similar abuses towards the Black Community via the police force. Even as time moved forward, many of the "slave patrol" supremacists' beliefs remained the same, so violence against Black People from police continued, and even got worse during the Civil Rights Movement and all movements in support of equality following (Kappeler, 2014).
- In research written by Frank Edwards, Hedwig Lee, and Michael Esposito, a statistic shows, "Over the life course, about 1 in every 1,000 black men can expect to be killed by police" (Edwards, Lee, Esposito, 2019).
