Investigate Foothills ER and Medical Centre.
The Issue
On November 12 both my partner and I went to the ER at Foothills Medical Centre, I had serotonin syndrome from misusing medication and they were so busy taking care of me that they started to experience severe alcohol withdrawal.
Now for some information about us; my partner is indigenous (Cree), both of us dress alternative and are covered in scares and tattoos and are of the LGBTQPLUS community.
My partner was in dire need of fluids and an IV but instead they had to wait two hours for water and those assigned to them were very dismissive (and in fact my partner even recalled over hearing one of the doctors assigned say to one of the nurses "This is just another street kid, go ahead and discharge them"). Instead of helping my partner, the doctor in charge of their file drugged them up and discharged them.
Barely able to make it home and still going through withdrawal, They ended up contacting their father- who then come to take them to out of YYC to see their family doctor who they weren't able to see until the following Monday (November 16th) meanwhile I look Caucasian (I’m Eastern European mixed with Middle Eastern) and got treated but my partner needed just as much if not more help then I. I already filed two complaints to AHS and it was getting looked into however the Doctor's statement that they provided was a far cry from the truth (They even went as far as to claim that my partner was able to see me after they were discharged which absolutely did not happen due to the fact that I was in isolation whilst being tested for Covid) and was purely to save face and cover up the mistreatment of my significant other.
Upon looking at reviews for the hospital there accounts from other individuals I noticed a trend that narrates a rather concerning picture of an ER's attitude and unwillingness to help and treat all patients with equal care,
So here I ask; To those in power- please open an investigation in concern to Foothills Medical Centre as such behaviour and disregard for all life is absolutely sickening and has no place with the Canadian Health Care System.
