Two years is long enough! Help repair Stallion Creek crossing Tauwhareparae Rd
The issue
Our area was hit by Cyclone Hale & Gabrielle almost two years ago, a storm that wreaked havoc on the landscape and forever changed our lives. Living through the aftermath of this disaster hasn't been easy for any of our community, but the prolonged lack of repair on our road has only compounded the difficulties.
This isn't just an inconvenience. It significantly affects daily traffic, including the route of the school bus that serves our children. By neglecting to restore the road, the council are leaving us to travel through sub standard road surfacing that damages vehicles, and is only getting worse now that logging trucks are back on this road. Besides this, each time it rains, the neglected drains fill, making the road sometimes impassable, posing a very real risk of flood to farmland. Each time we get heavy rain, unless you’re in a big high truck there is no way to get past, meaning residents are stuck for what is a really basic road repair and totally avoidable.
It has been almost two years since the cyclone; it's past time to restore the road to its former condition. We call on our local council to prioritise and expedite the repairs needed rather than keeping on with patch sticking plaster repairs. We are sick of being fobbed off and told there’s no money for it unless we complain more.
Your chance to make a difference starts here. Stand with us. Sign the petition and demand the repair of Tauwhareparae road (rapid number 945 for reference to the area in discussion/ also known as Stallion Creek) now.
