The Issue

In Curtiss Hall, where many of us reside, the heat is becoming unbearable. As residents and students in Jacksonville, AL, we are paying good money for accommodation, and it is our right to be comfortable in our living environment. However, the lack of air conditioning is causing severe distress for many of us, with some of my fellow residents experiencing frequent nosebleeds, fainting spells, and asthma attacks.

We've observed that when outside temperatures hit 70°F, the building becomes stifling, and it exacerbates the health problems that many of us have. Girls with respiratory issues like asthma or sinus problems cannot cope without proper ventilation. Moreover, this situation is not only uncomfortable but poses serious health risks and jeopardizes our well being.

Turning on the air conditioning is not simply a matter of comfort but a necessity to ensure a safe and healthy living environment. The institution must prioritize the health and safety of its residents before anything else. We understand that energy costs are a concern, but the potential medical expenses and personal distress that could arise from neglecting this matter are much more costly.

Immediate action is needed. We are urging the management to turn on the air conditioning in Curtiss Hall. Cooler, conditioned air will significantly improve the living conditions in the building, reduce medical issues, and ensure we can continue our studies and activities without unnecessary health concerns.

Please join us in asking the university management to recognize this urgent need and address the situation by providing the essential cooling system we require. Sign this petition to support the well-being of all residents of Curtiss Hall in Jacksonville, AL. Together, we can foster a healthier and more accommodating environment for all of us.

Please do not give money to this as we’re just trying to show that we still need ac.

I truly appreciate all of you!
