RE: Town of Greenburgh 2026 CFA/EPF Letter of Support – East Rumbrook Park Expansion Project
Dear Commissioner Moser,
As a Cricket enthusiast in the Westchester/NY Metro Area, I am signing below in support of the Town of Greenburgh's 2026 application in connection with the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation's Environmental Protection Fund (EPF) Grants for construction related to a first phase (roadway/infrastructure) of the Town's East Rumbrook Park Expansion Project, with longer-term plans to include Cricket Field space.
Unfortunately, due to the lack of dedicated cricket infrastructure in Westchester, many teams are forced to travel over an hour to Connecticut, New Jersey or New York City to play. The Town of Greenburgh's leadership in recognizing this gap—evidenced by the creation of the Richard Presser Cricket Pitch—was a groundbreaking step forward, and we remain deeply grateful for your vision and support.
I am thrilled to hear about the Town of Greenburgh's long-term plans to develop a new park with dedicated cricket field space and wholeheartedly endorse this grant application and are honored to support it. A multi-use field with proper accommodation for cricket would be a tremendous asset to our community—benefiting youth, families, and players across Westchester County and beyond. The Town's thoughtful inclusion of universal playgrounds and diverse recreational amenities will make this a truly inclusive and community-driven park.
The Town's inclusion of Cricket Field space at Richard Presser Park was a great first step. A larger field at the East Rumbrook Park expansion site would fill a significant gap in the Westchester County area.
