Tow lives matter

Tow lives matter
The Issue
Here is my story… As I am writing this, I am happy that i am not a statistic and to be home with my family. I was returning from St. J and encountered a driver with a flat tire headed north on 91. I thought to myself that this was an unfortunate situation for a Friday night, so I turned around and parked behind him to assist with the tire change. I positioned my truck in the travel lane slightly to encourage passing vehicles to move over. Did this strategy prove effective? Unfortunately not, as cars sped by mere inches from my truck and my person, blowing my hat and glasses off my head. This was the first instance in which I felt compelled to contact law enforcement due to a situation rapidly escalating. I would like to extend my gratitude to the Vermont State Police for promptly dispatching a trooper in response to my call. I would like to remind drivers of the importance of SLOWING DOWN and MOVING OVER when approaching roadside emergencies, as this is not only a matter of courtesy but also THE LAW!!!!
Here is what i would like to implement Allow Tow Trucks to Use Rear-Facing Blue Lights to Improve Roadside Safety Petition to: The state of Vermont Started by: Patrick Crowley, Owner of Precision Towing & Recovery Tow truck operators put their lives on the line every day to help motorists in dangerous roadside situations — from flat tires and breakdowns to wreck recovery. Yet, visibility remains one of the biggest risks to their safety. We are asking lawmakers and transportation authorities to allow tow trucks to use rear-facing blue lights when operating on the roadside. 🚨 Why Blue Lights Matter: Increased Visibility: Blue lights cut through fog, rain, snow, and darkness more effectively than amber lights alone. Proven Results: States like Ohio, Tennessee, and Michigan have implemented similar laws — with fewer roadside accidents reported involving tow operators. Lives at Risk: Tow truck drivers are struck and killed every year due to poor visibility while working. This change could prevent those tragedies. What We’re Asking For: To change current laws or regulations to allow rear-facing blue warning lights on tow trucks when actively assisting a vehicle or operating roadside. This small update can save lives — both for the heroes behind the wheel of the tow truck and the drivers they’re trying to help. Please sign and share to support safer roads and working conditions for those who serve on the front lines of roadside assistance
