Save the Savannah
Save the Savannah

African Elephants. Rhinoceroses. African Wild Dogs. Cheetahs. Lions. Zebras. All of these are examples of endangered animals in Savannah. This ecosystem is home to 45 mammal species, 500 bird species and plenty of plants, some of these are critically endangered, or close to.
Each year, over 46,000 square kilometres of the African Savannah becomes desert, mainly due to the amount of overgrazing, deforestation, climate change and hunting. This ecosystem used to cover 20% of the worlds land, and was found in French Guinea, Suriname, all throughout Africa, India, Queensland and the Northern Territory. Now, however, it can only be found in some parts of Africa and a small island in India.
If everyone in the world stopped cutting down trees, that would stop two issues with the Savannah: climate change and deforestation. That sounds pretty good right? Yes, but it’ll also mean that people will lose their jobs, which means no money and you can’t buy food or a house or anything, really. So, to stop people losing their jobs, but also stop climate change, is that whenever someone cuts down a tree, they plant two new ones. Even just this can make a huge difference.
