On Memorial Day weekend, a 14-year-old was killed riding on top of a subway train across the Williamsburg Bridge in New York City. Three years earlier, 15-year-old Zackery Nazario died in the exact same spot. His mother, Norma Nazario, has spent every day since trying to stop this from happening to another family.

It keeps happening because social media keeps glorifying it.

Subway surfing videos rack up views on TikTok, showing teens riding on top of moving trains without showing what happens when it goes wrong. No consequences. No funerals. No mothers like Norma, who said this past week: "Please just stop. Stop surfing."

The NYPD, the MTA, and grieving families have all called on social media platforms to take these videos down. Police say more needs to be done. A 14-year-old is dead. Another family is destroyed.

TikTok has the technology to identify and remove this content. They have a responsibility to use it. We're calling on TikTok to immediately remove videos that glorify subway surfing and stop recommending this content to teenagers.

No view is worth a child's life.
