Delay the Thunder Bay Indoor Turf Facility Project

Delay the Thunder Bay Indoor Turf Facility Project
The Issue
The taxpayers and people of Thunder Bay have decided that we are not comfortable footing the bill for the new estimated $33 million dollar Indoor Sport Turf Facility.
Please do not waste any more of our time or resources debating and drafting plans for a facility that is unwanted, during a time of financial hardship. A privately owned and operated infrastructure project needs to be paid for by private investors, not by the taxpaying citizens.
I do not want to pay for this facility when we are neglecting other community projects such as necessary roadwork, the lead pipe fittings, Dease pool, the undergound gym, the conservatory, or supporting our vaulnerable and aging populace.
Furthermore, our city's application for covid relief funding has not yet been approved, possibly adding to the budgetary deficit we will face in the upcoming years.
"And while the city has applied for COVID-19 relief funding, Kelly Robertson, Thunder Bay's general manager of community services, said Friday the city is still waiting on responses to those applications."

Thank you to the city manager Norm Gale, and city councellors who are listening to the constituents and advocating against the facility.
My concern is that their pressure alone, may not be enough to guarantee a delay. So now, I am hopeful that this petition will provide an easy platform for our city residents to voice their opinion.
Thank you for your support.
