Every store in the state of Delaware charge for plastic bags

The Issue

Everyone is affected by the wastefulness of the human actions we take everyday. This is including our health, our oceans, our land, wild life, and OUR FUTURE. Grocery stores and pharmacies specifically go through crazy amounts of waste. Majority of it being plastic and cardboard. Working at a Walgreens I see everyday people getting bags for the smallest things like a candy bar to a simple gift card that they could put in their pockets, or simply carry. I truly think it is just wasteful and quite honestly selfish! People get new bags every single time they come to shop instead of being envirmentally cautious and reusing or recycling old plastic bags, or using reusable bags. With all that being said I think a price should be put on using plastic bags not only in Delaware but all over the United States. Some stores such as BJ’s have already eliminated the use of plastic bags by using cardboard boxes to carry items, some Dollar Trees have started to use brown reusable paper bags instead of plastic, Save-A-Lot also has in place a small fee for the use of their bags. I strongly believe that if every retailer added some kind of fee or alternative to plastic bags, not only will the store earn some extra income, and reduce waste, it will help raise awareness to our environment. While this seems like a small difference, any impact on improving the ways of life is a positive and going in right the direction of a healthier world!
