The Wisconsin Natural Resources Board (NRB or Board) sets policy for the Department of Natural Resources and exercises authority and responsibility in accordance with state laws 

Board members are nominated by the Governor with the advice and consent of the Senate for 6-year terms. By doing it this way idea is so that the NRB isn’t stacked by one political party or the other, rightfully, since political affiliation should not even be considered when appointing somebody to the NRB

Almost 1 YEAR ago Gov. Tony Evers appointed Sharon Adams of Milwaukee and Sandra Dee E. Nass of Ashland to fill upcoming vacancies on the Natural Resources Board. The person Adam’s was taking over for stepped down so she could fulfill the position, however, (I don’t believe she was officially confirmed by senate, either, but because the prior person stepped down she could fill the position) Dr. Fredrick Prehn is refusing to step down so Sandra Dee Naas can fulfill her role on the board. His term expired May 2021. From my understanding he is hiding behind a Supreme Court ruling from the 1960s to squat in his position on the NRB. With Prehn refusing to step down we need the senate to do their expected job and confirm Sandra Dee Naas. That would force Dr. Prehn to step down and allow Sandra to fill her rightful position on the board

Sandra is incredibly qualified for the position and as an avid outdoorsman I truly believe she would be a fantastic asset to our state once allowed to serve her term on the NRB 

Naas has more than 30 years of experience related to conservation and serves as an Agriculture and Natural Resources Instructor and FFA advisor at Ashland High School

She is also the owner and primary natural resources scientist at Stable Solutions, an environmental consulting firm in Ashland, as well as chair of the Bayfield County Conservation Congress and vice-chair of the Bayfield County Deer Advisory Council

Our senators are simply refusing to confirm Naas for no reason other than they do not like Tony Evers and she is his nomination for the NRB. This is the first time in 50 years that the senate has just outright refused to confirm a Governors appointee choice for the NRB. I have contacted every state representative, every state senator, the NRB, members of the WDNR and the only thing I can do is continue to push for them to do what is right and confirm Sandra

I am asking you all to help me make it known to our legislation that we want Sandra confirmed and that what they’re choosing to do is incredibly disturbing. I would really appreciate if you’d sign this petition and if you are an over achiever please contact your local state rep/senator about this issue
