As of this writing, we have reached 2,301 supporters on our petition, making great progress into 2021. I'd also like to thank everyone who has participated in our previous campaign for getting the Zenon trilogy released to DVD.
This week, we have another campaign that I'd like to have you join. This time in the tradition of Black History Month, we're going to focus on getting The Famous Jett Jackson and Jett Jackson: the Movie released on DVD. As I'm sure most of you are aware, these titles are not available on the Disney+ streaming service because Disney doesn't own the distribution rights to them, so for this campaign we will be contacting WildBrain (the current owner of the Jett Jackson franchise). To participate, simply reach out to them in one of three ways:
1. Send an email to their rights department (sales@wildbrain.com) and/or consumer products department (licensing@wildbrain.com) stating that you wish to see Jett Jackson released on DVD. Below is a sample message you can use for reference (you may word it differently and change it to your liking, but please be respectful and polite to them):
"Dear WildBrain, since you own the rights to Jett Jackson, I thought I'd reach out to your company regarding the possibility of the series being released on DVD. For two decades, fans have been waiting for official DVD releases of this show and its movie, to no avail. It no longer airs on TV and it's not available to stream on neither Disney+ nor Netflix. We would appreciate it if you could consider releasing The Famous Jett Jackson and Jett Jackson: the Movie on DVD for longtime fans and future generations to enjoy for as long as they'd like."
2. Send a letter to one of WildBrain's locations (link to their contact page). You may also use the sample message above as a reference for writing a good letter to them.
3. Tag @DisneyChannel and @WildBrainHQ in a Twitter post explaining to them that you'd like to see The Famous Jett Jackson and its movie released on DVD. If you're one of the few people who happen to own an official VHS copy of the movie, be sure to include a photo of it in your post to show additional support.
If we get as many supporters as possible to participate in this campaign, we can increase the chances of getting Jett Jackson released on DVD, that way the legacy of the late Lee Thompson Young won't be forgotten.
