Dear school colleagues from all European Schools,

  Every year our schools lose hundreds of good, sometimes brilliant, and efficient teachers because of the 9 year rule. Since the Europeans Schools are there to provide the best education possible to the children of workers that leave their home countries to go and work for the EU - how does this big loss help anybody at all? How can the students benefit from it?

  Imagine if the CEO of a multi-national company would start firing all his employees after 9 years in the company. Can you imagine all the lost investment and effort put by company in their workers? There would be a great loss in efficiency and productiveness. Imagine how much the share price of that company would plunge after the announcement. Imagine the media and social media comments about the Board?

  Imagine now that this happens in schools were the lives, education and future of children is at stake. It is crazy to think about it.

  I can assure you that if next year you’d have to pass the BAC, this would be a very important and urgent matter. Just like thousands of other students, losing some of our teachers half way through our BAC, is the biggest problem we’re facing. Our averages will suffer, our education will suffer, and our future will suffer too. 

  It is hard to imagine just how many students have suffered like this in the past too - we all know some. That enough is enough. 

  We hereby ask to everyone who has studied or studies, teaches or has taught, or has any connection with a European School, and agrees that the 9 year rule is an unnecessary hole in the system - to sign this petition in order to help the students abolish this very damaging rule.
