The RSGB have allowed Russians back into UK radio sport
The Issue
The Radio Society Great Britain (RSGB) have decided to re-admit Russian stations to UK radio sport. We believe they should call an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) to consult the Members on this important change.

UPDATE 17th August 2026
Anyone wishing to add their name and support Ukraine, can do so completely anonymously by simply sending an email that includes the Article 4 language petition statement (the bolded sentences below) to us directly QTHR.
About our petition:
In 2022, following the invasion of Ukraine, the RSGB banned Russian Stations from entering RSGB Contests, recognising that “actions by the Russian Federation and their military have crossed a line and the RSGB in this instance cannot remain neutral”
On August 7th 2026 however, the RSGB announced that Russian stations will be allowed back in to RSGB Contests from January 2027, we believe this would be a mistake.
Everything that has happened since 2022 justifies keeping the ban, nothing that has happened can justify lifting it.
We do not propose banning contacts (for points) in contests, nor at other times.
It is regrettable that politics has entered our hobby, but without the ban, we might see Russian stations entering our contests from occupied regions of Ukraine, using amateur radio to normalise the illegal occupation.
We have Russian radio friends ourselves and wish them no ill-will personally, but we believe that their collective isolation from radio sport will contribute to pressure inside Russia for change.
We love the RSGB, that has been part of our lives for decades, we just believe that, on this issue, the members deserve to be directly consulted with an EGM and vote.
Article 4(a) of the RSGB Statutes provides that 300 paid-up Members can requisition an EGM, and that the Board shall convene such a meeting within eight weeks of receiving the requisition.
The Petition will remain OPEN until the EGM has been triggered.
Signing the petition is sending this message to the RSGB Board:
"I am a member of the RSGB and I wish to request the Board to hold an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) under Article 4 to discuss prohibiting Russian stations from entering RSGB Contests, and further, to consider the resolution “To require the Board to prohibit all Russian Stations from entering all RSGB Contests"
