We, parents and friends of children at Whitefield School, (part of Whitefield Academy Trust) are petitioning for:

1. The immediate reopening of the school’s hydrotherapy pool for the use of pupils;

2. (Alternatively) a clear and regularly updated timescale for reopening to be communicated to parents.

3. The school to make the pool available to outside organisations such as KidsPhysio London who wish to provide hydrotherapy sessions for children and young people in other settings.

There is no question that hydrotherapy is beneficial, even essential, for young people with complex needs.

The pool has now been closed for at least three years and no alternative provision has been offered or suggested.

Following numerous requests from parents, we have been assured that a plan for reopening is in place. Some parents were told this was happening in 2022. However, the pool remains closed and no details have been made available to parents.

According to the Trust’s website, ‘…our pupils remain at the heart of all we do and we aim to provide them with the highest standards…so they can achieve the best possible outcomes.’ Provision of a properly functioning hydrotherapy pool would be a wonderful way of putting these laudable aims into action.
