The United States is the second largest contributor of CO2 emissions, behind China. China has made a public declaration of support for the scientific proof of global climate change and the need to reduce emissions by ratifying the Kyoto Protocol. The Protocol commits industrialized nations to stabilize greenhouse gas emissions in order to avoid the impending global catastrophe of rising sea levels and increased atmospheric temperatures. We need the United States Government to not just accept the scientific documentation of climate change, but accept our role in creating climate change as well as our duty to reduce it before the effects are irreversible.
