Condemn India’s violation of freedom of speech and human rights in Punjab

Condemn India’s violation of freedom of speech and human rights in Punjab
The Issue
- Peaceful protestors have been attacked, arrested, and even shot by police in Punjab (Jaspal Singh, 18 years old, died after police opened fire on protestors)

- There are strong indications that a social media blackout was imposed. Many felt and were intimidated to post any information regarding the protests in Punjab or the current situation. This has effectively choked the cyber chatter on Twitter/FaceBook and other social media coming out of Punjab and appears to be a blatant violation of freedom of speech, something not expected from a democratic country.
- The US Government should condemn these violations of democratic rights to free speech and peaceful protests.
