Hello everyone!

I would like to let you all know that Suzanne Scheiber and I met with Mr. Parker Mychenburg, the developer of the neighborhood on the loop. Suzanne and I asked for the 175-foot buffer that is at the edge of the development to be placed in a conservation easement. An easement would provide protection to the buffer and ensure that it remains forestry for years to come. Mr. Mychenburg agreed to this. He has already begun taking action to help this request become a reality. The City or Ormond Beach must also play a role in protecting the loop in this way.

We also asked Mr. Mychenburg if he is willing to sell the lots along the buffer. This would allow us to purchase the land for conservation and essentially widen the 175-foot buffer. He also agreed to this. There is a grant open that we can apply for that would help provide the funds needed to conserve this land, however the City of Ormond Beach also has an opportunity to protect the loop. This is an achievable solution and together we can all move forward to protect one of Volusia County’s most pristine areas, the Ormond Scenic Loop and Trail.

Thank you all so much for you continued support! I would also like to thank Mr. Parker Mychenburg for collaborating and meeting with us. Please continue to stay update via updates like this one and through posts on Facebook.

Thank you and stay safe!
