Hello everyone! Thank you again for your continued participation and support! The petition has over 55,000 signatures! We are also only about two weeks away from the commission meeting that will either approve or deny the amendment for the housing developments. The meeting is Tuesday July 28th 7:00 at the Ormond Beach City Hall Chamber. All support is welcome and appreciated! They need to know the citizens care about this.
Emailing or calling the FDOT (Florida Department of Transportation) concerning the rezoning of the development on the Ormond Scenic Loop and Trail would also be a huge help! The Byway designation was received through their regulated guidelines. It’s imperative they understand that citizens are concerned and why.

On a positive note, one possibility to stop this deforestation is having the land purchased for conservation. Florida or Volusia Forever, the City of Ormond Beach themselves or Trust for Public Land could purchase the land. In phases one and three, retention ponds have been dug, but the trees have not been cleared. There is a large swath of land in phase one, right behind the buffer and near the Byway itself, with forest to protect.
Please keep spreading the petition and talking about this issue. We can Save the Loop together! Thank you :)
