Thanks to the efforts of our outreach coordinators Marlene Pedersen & Christopher McCormick, Holland Society of New York is now supporting our statement encouraging the passage of these two bills! 2. Historical Society of Rockland County is now supporting our statement encouraging the passage of these two bills! 3. Westchester County Historical Society is now supporting our statement encouraging the passage of these two bills! 4. Nyack Historical Society (representing all of the 4 Nyacks) is now supporting our statement encouraging the passage of these two bills! 5. The City of Orangetown is now supporting our statement encouraging the passage of these two bills! 6. Plus, Orangetown, Nyack Historical Society, and Historical Society of Rockland have all produced and signed official resolutions that they will be sending to all senators and assemblymen and the governor next week. 7. Plus, we are expecting more organizations and towns will be signing on to these efforts shortly. Very exciting! 8. As a recap, two democrats from Rockland (Assemblywoman Ellen Jaffee (518-455-5118) & Assemblyman Ken Zebrowski (518-455-5735) switched from "I will not support these bills" to "Okay, I will vote yes". Please call them and tell them you are proud of them and to convince their fellow assemblymen to also vote yes! 9. Senate Bill S7671 has just completed its 3rd require reading on the senate and floor and is expected to be voted on this week or next. PLEASE CALL SENATORS SHELLEY MAYER (518-426-6860) AND SENATOR DAVID CARLUCCI (518-455-2991) AND TELL THEM YOU WANT THEM TO VOTE YES! 10. If you live in any of the towns surrounding the Tappan Zee, such as Tarrytown, South Nyack, Elmsford, Irvington, Ardsley, Piermont, Port Chester, Rye, Harrison, Mamaroneck, White Plains, etc., please call your TOWN COUNCIL and tell them you want them to publicly speak out in support of these two bills in the senate and the assembly. Emphasize that it is a COMPROMISE bill that everybody (Republicans, Democrats, and Independents) can all get behind without appearing partisan. 11. JUNE 7th IS THE DATE TO DELIVER THE PETITION TO GOVERNOR CUOMO IN ALBANY. I will be there. And we want you there! We NEED you there. Rockland County Times is coming, and a tv station has expressed interest in covering the event and doing a story afterwards. And we are working to get even more press coverage. We need you to be there too, to help us hold up our banner, and show the governor that we have a LOT of support, and to drop in on all the assembly reps that are on the fence, to show them all that there is no shame in signing these bills into law, and that, in fact, there is more shame in voting 'no'.
