Hi Team Tappan Zee and Tappan Zee-ers worldwide! Every night, as I go to sleep, I think that our movement will somehow whimper away and die. But every morning, I wake up to an ever unfolding energy as this drama of historical proportions continues to take shape! A lot of big updates: A) Read the attached article. It is a pride-inducing history of the Tappan Indians and the Dutch here in Westchester, Rockland, Manhattan, and even Jersey City, NJ! Written by famed media magnate (in my opinion) Steve Dunlop in yesterday’s Journal News, I urge each of you to repost this article on social media and via email to all your friends, along with a link to our petition. It will make you cry when you realize that this history is not considered important enough by Albany to preserve! B) The Governor thinks that I started this petition as a secret agent for wealthy tech billionaire Robert Mercer, with the support of “right-wing rabid conservatives”, as a smear campaign against him and his father. As we all know, it’s not true. But, I’ll tell you this: while I did start this petition on my lonesome, lots of people and groups ARE getting in touch with me now, all offering their help and resources to make this petition a success. Just as many of you signing are democrats and independents, I will gladly accept help from any legal organization that wants to promote our completely apolitical cause. C) Further, despite the Governor’s claims, I was not in any way affiliated with Reclaim New York and they had nothing to do with my starting this petition. However, I absolutely will continue to accept any help they offer in terms of promoting our movement, because our mission is the same regarding this bridge. So thank you all—Republican, Democrat, Independent, apolitical—for recognizing the true historical purpose of this petition. We really ARE making a difference. Just look! 80,000!!! All over the news!! Albany is responding!! C) Thank you for all the comments on this petition. They reflect a true diversity of opinion about why the name should remain, but also a unifying end game: we want the Tappan Zee name back. When I do ultimately send the petition to the governor and legislature, I will be including a copy of nearly every comment shared. So if you have something to say, speak up! I read them all, and so do thousands of others. Your voice WILL be heard if you share a comment about why you signed. D) Again, KEEP SHARING. Do not for a moment think that getting one more person to sign is not helpful. These ‘One More Persons’ are precisely why we are rapidly (or as the Governor might say, “rabidly”) approaching 100,000 supporters. Remember too that YOU once were that “one more person”. So read the article below from yesterday’s Journal News. Get chills because it’s that good—you’ll be so proud of the Tappan Indians and the Dutch! And then share it with everyone you know. The more people learn about our incredible Native American/Indian/Dutch heritage here in NY and the amazing original bridge (you know, built between the Tappan and the Dutch people), the ever more clear it becomes that a terrible mistake has been made. And fortunately, one that can still be corrected! Onward!!!!! Screaming the Tappan Battle Cry, I am, respectfully and with immeasurable gratitude: Dr. Monroe Mann, PhD, Esq, MBA Petitioner in Chief
