Hi Tappan Zee & the Zee-ers! (I’ve decided we are now a rock band. And let me tell you, Tappan Zee is the HOTTEST rocker on the scene right now!) Guess what? 95,000! Simply fantastic! And... I still need your help: I was interviewed again by the Journal News today, this time by a columnist who is doing an in-depth story on the issue at hand. The story will be released online Thursday and in print Friday. Our mission: get the petition over 100,000 by Wednesday night/Thursday morning so that the columnist can report that our petition has exceeded 100,000. 100,000 is a big number and may help us get even more attention! So please: keep sharing! If you get one more person to sign, that person could lead to another 50 signatures, which could lead to another 2500. Believe it or not, many people still do not know about the bridge name change. Many still haven’t yet heard about our petition. So, it’s up to us to tell them. After the interview today in Tarrytown at Sunset Cove, I spoke to some Metro North construction workers at the Tarrytown station and they had no idea. I told them. Now they are signing. I then ate at McDonalds and shared the news with another person, and showed her the petition. She didn’t know either. And this is in Tarrytown! Literally, tell everyone. So many people still do not know. One signature at a time adds up. If every one of you just got 2 more people to sign, we’d be close to 200,000! Bottom line: we cannot let the petition stop gaining numbers. As long as names are constantly being added, every 5,000 new people becomes another potential news story. Don’t for a moment think your work is done—we must continue to get signatures every day, sharing with all we meet. And be creative! Some of you are writing letters to the newspaper. A fine chap named Clifton who I just spoke to on the phone has written a song about the Tappan Zee. Steve Dunlop wrote an article for the Journal News. A former NY historian is using his network to get the word out. Ok, who wants to go for a mid-November swim in the Hudson with me for a good cause? Oh come on, it’s not THAT cold! :D IF KRAMER SWAM THE EAST RIVER FOR HEALTH WE CAN SWIM THE HUDSON FOR HISTORY! Meet at 8am tomorrow? Any takers? Just kidding. :P Bottom line: don’t underestimate yourself and the people you can influence. You have a stronger voice and more power than you think. Keep up the great work. Thank you again! Fighting on your behalf, I am, respectfully, Dr. Monroe Mann, PhD, Esq, MBA Petitioner in Chief
