Hey Tappan Zee-ers!
We are making an impact! Both the Journal News and NY Post wrote editorials backing the petition. The LA Times picked up the story. And tonight, a reporter from the N.Y. Times called me for an interview (look in Wednesday’s Morning Briefing—there may be a story).
RECAP: We are nearly at 75,000. WOW! Just incredible. And all because of YOU GUYS! Please, post the petition again on Facebook. On Twitter. Tell your roommates. Your neighbors. Tell your friends ANYWHERE who also believe the Indian and Dutch name must remain——to sign! And share a comment about why it is important. Never before is it becoming clear that EVERY SIGNATURE COUNTS. It is because of awesome people like you that we have come so far. Thank you all for taking time out of your busy days to support this effort. Together, we ARE making a difference! WE WERE ON THE COVER OF THE NY POST!!!!
Many keep asking me when I will send the petition to the Governor and the Legislature. The answer: We will know when the time is right. For now, let’s keep this momentum going. WE CAN GET THIS THING TO 100,000 BY THE END OF THE MONTH. Every one of you: find just one more person. Explain to a stranger the importance of our cause. They WILL sign.
Proof positive that our petition is not partisan: I told my Uber liberal bisexual friend who lives in San Francisco about what we were trying to do. She signed it in two minutes and shared with all her friends in California who love New York. I read a comment by a signer who actually IS a descendant of the Tappan Indians who rightfully wants to preserve his people’s history. I’m reading many comments from Democrats... who agree 100% with our efforts.
Thank you again! I know we will break 75,000 tomorrow. And 100,000 soon after. Let our collective voices be heard!
Fighting on your behalf, I am,
