Located in the Kootenay's near Cranbrook is Negro Creek and Negro Lake. These names are old and inappropriate in this day and age. I am writing this petition to request that the names be changed to something more culturally sensitive. Negro Creek and Negro Lake are located in the unceded traditional territory of the Ktunaxa people and a Ktunaxa name would be more appropriate.

I think that the Ktunaxa Nation should be consulted and a new name chosen for this creek and lake.
