Investigate the FBI's ties to the Donald Trump campaign during the 2016 election

The Issue

On October 28th, 2016 the Director of the FBI James Comey sent a vague letter to Congress regarding a prior investigation into Hillary Clinton's emails, 11 days before the Presidential election. This resulted in wide bipartisan criticism, even from the people who ran the Department of Justice such as former Attorney General Eric Holder and former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales. After this letter was sent, we learned a lot about some of what was happening behind the scenes at the FBI and in the Trump campaign, such as the following:

We, the American people, the undersigned, care about the integrity of US governmental institutions. It is concerning that potentially politically motivated actors at the FBI have fed information to a Presidential campaign about their opponent. Regardless whether or not this influenced the election, which there is evidence that it did, Giuliani's unprompted bragging on Fox News about what was coming raises questions both about motives and the sanctity of the investigation, which again concluded in no charges.

We, the American people, the undersigned, call upon the petitioned House and Senate committees to immediately open an investigation into the ties between the FBI and the Donald Trump for President campaign. We urge you to use your constitutional powers that are enshrined in the constitution for the purposes of checks and balances to vigorously, and in a nonpartisan fashion, begin an immediate investigation to ensure our government institutions are operating with integrity and in a nonpartisan fashion.

The American people deserve answers after this unprecedented involvement in the US Presidential election. It is the job of the petitioned to find them.

Sincerely,

The American People.
