The issue

You’ve heard the haters trying to tell us that Brisbane 2032 might fall a bit flat.

But what if we didn’t play it safe? What if we created an event that was even more fun than watching Saturday Disney with your siblings in the 90’s? What if we went bold, joyful, and unmistakably Brisbane with two Brisbane-based queens bringing the vibes, the sparkle, and a whole lot of personality to the Olympics Opening Ceremony.

I’m petitioning for Patience Hodgson (absolute delight, formerly from The Grates) and Rachel Burke (tinsel queen, creative powerhouse) to collaborate for the ceremony.

Picture it:

  • Green and gold tinsel jackets.
  • A “2032” anthem to the tune of 19-20-20.
  • High energy, perhaps a bit chaotic, but all  in the best possible way.

Maybe even a tinsel jacket for the mascot? Just putting it out there, because how fun.

These are the women who represent us.

Two mums. Two creatives. Two genuinely great humans who bring people together and make things feel lighter, brighter, and more connected.

Brisbane has the chance to show the world who we really are.

Let’s make it colourful.
Let’s make it joyful.
Let’s make it grate.
