Covid-19 has affected the entire world. Yet we must not forget about the young athletes of New Mexico. Who have dedicated the majority of their life, heart, youth, blood, sweat, and tears into the sports that take place in spring. Amid all the chaos of the past few months our governor has taken very necessary and admirable steps to stop the spread of Covid-19. It is not my intention to insult our governor and or ridicule her policies as I feel they are most necessary to protect the people of New Mexico. Yet we cannot forget that these young athletes entire season has been taken from them with no foreseeable compensation offered. There are many children who’s only chance of getting into college were the scholarships obtained through these sports.When the situation at hand is resolved if the state ignores all these children who’s future has been taken from them, it would be a great injustice for the young athletes of New Mexico. Many of whom feel their whole school career has been wasted. Many only went through the hardship that is school for the sports they hold so dearly to their hearts, my family has been afflicted personally by this I have had to watch my baby sister suffer emotionally and mentally do to the loss of her the sport. Therefore I have started this petition to bring justice not just for my baby sister, but too all of our young athletes. We must come together as a state and offer our children, our future their last season as it is a vital aspect of these young kids lives.
