Early this September, I was in the Dalplex basement waiting to participate in an experiment. I am passionate about contributing to the sciences, and I was very curious about my friend's study. As I sat still in the hallway, sweat formed on my skin. It was too hot to think clearly, and if not for a large fan in the lab I would have abandoned the whole endeavour. It wasn't even a particularly hot day outside. I can't imagine what it must be like to work (or work out) in those conditions.

In passing, I've talked with other students and staff about it. Apparently I was in on one of the basement's better days, and there's no air conditioning.

We call upon Dalhousie University to create better working conditions at Dalplex by cooling the basement, be it with air conditioning, improvements to insulation, ventilation, or other solutions.
