“The Beatty Quest”
Requesting signatures of support from citizens in the city of Hermitage, Pa.
I've lived in Hermitage for almost 50 years, around the corner from the Beatty family. I have witnessed Mr. Beatty selflessly maintain and repair the road to his home and several homes on Charles Street in Hermitage, Pa., for decades. After his passing two years ago, his widow of over 70 plus years and another senior citizen neighbor have been left to face the challenges of this unmaintained road alone. Despite repeated efforts by Mrs. Beatty's son to seek help, the city of Hermitage has turned a blind eye. Can we come together to support this remarkable family before it's too late? Here's a heartfelt plea from Mrs. Beatty's son: “City of Hermitage, what a stark reality. My 76-year-old mother and her neighbor, also in her late 70s, are struggling with a ‘paper road’ – a dirt and gravel road that the city refuses to maintain. My father maintained this road single-handedly for over 25 years, and after his passing, we've seen the burden fall on these incredible women. Recently, after a snowstorm, I cleared the road and two driveways with a snowblower, but the garbage service won't return. I ask, what happens in case of a fire or medical emergency? Is it truly just to collect taxes without providing basic services? I urge you to consider the Beatty family's situation and join me in seeking justice. Neighbors will no longer stand idly by as these two tax-paying women are overlooked. Can we make a difference for them, please??”}
