New law that will ban pet stores in Tennessee from selling dogs & cats from breeding mills

The Issue

According to the Humane Society, breeding mills lead to an estimated 1.5 million animals euthanized across the United States each year. Furthermore, 99% of the dogs sold in pet stores are from puppy mills. This means if pet stores were required to only sell dogs and cats from local shelters, very few, if any dogs and cats would need to be euthanized. Taxpayers in Tennessee could save hundreds of millions of dollars each year on housing and euthanizing shelter animals while saving the lives of millions of dogs and cats.
