A dangerous new method of natural gas drilling called hydraulic fracturing (or “fracking”) has been linked to over 1,000 cases of water contamination across the country—including many cases where the water is so contaminated it can be lit on fire, right out of the tap!

Now gas companies want to frack in the area where New York City, Philadelphia, New Jersey and Delaware get their drinking water.  The Delaware River is the critical water source for over 15 million people—five percent of the U.S. population.

Experts agree that hydraulic fracturing could create a catastrophe as severe as the Gulf oil spill that could cost taxpayers billions and cause irreparable harm—because once you contaminate water through hydraulic fracturing there is NO WAY to clean it up. 

At this critical moment, we are calling on President Obama to take hydraulic fracturing out of the United States environmental/energy agenda, and take the Delaware River watershed off the table for this dangerous form of extreme drilling.  The gas industry has shown time and again that fracking cannot be done safely.  We cannot gamble our 15 million people's drinking water on the chance that the past will not repeat itself. 

Take Action!  Tell President Obama and the Governors of New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey: No Drilling in the Delaware River Basin!
