Tell Nebraska: 71% Voted Yes — Let Patients Access Medical Cannabis

The Issue

In November, Nebraska voters made their voices loud and clear: 71% voted to legalize medical marijuana for patients who need it.

But instead of honoring that mandate, state officials are undermining it at every turn — delaying licenses, limiting access, and attempting to gut the law voters passed.

Patients suffering from chronic pain, epilepsy, cancer, PTSD, and other serious conditions should not be forced to wait — or suffer — because of political gamesmanship.

Governor Jim Pillen and the newly formed Nebraska Medical Cannabis Commission have ignored the law’s deadlines, stripped out key provisions, and imposed unnecessary restrictions that block access to legal, physician-approved treatments. Meanwhile, Attorney General Mike Hilgers is actively trying to overturn the law in court.

This is not what voters approved. This is not democracy. And it’s not justice for the families and patients who need relief — now.

We call on Governor Pillen, the Nebraska Medical Cannabis Commission, and Attorney General Hilgers to:

  • Fully and immediately implement the medical marijuana law as approved by voters
  • Restore access to all forms of legal cannabis, including smokeable and edible options
  • Remove politically motivated delays and restrictions on licensing for growers and dispensaries
  • Respect the will of the 71% of Nebraskans who voted for compassion, care, and medical freedom.

The people have spoken. Stop the obstruction. Let patients access the medicine they were promised.
