Remove Don Haddad as Acting Superintendent of The St. Vrain Valley School District

The Issue

Don Haddad is the acting superintendent of the St. Vrain Valley School District. He has been in this position for the past 10 years. Over the past few years however, Haddad has granted the St. Vrain Valley School District fewer snow days than deserved thus sacrificing the safety of the students of the district. As superintendent, Don Haddad is responsible for "making the call" on whether a snow day is required or not. Haddad is obviously under-using this power as superintendent. The truth is, the fewer snow days we have, the more money the district receives from the state. In this case, Don Haddad is trading the safety of students in the district for money. An excellent example of this is the great snow storm of 2019 in which there was well over 6 inches of snow on the roads and yet Haddad made the call to have a regular day of school. Haddad relies too heavily of the reliability of the SVVSD snow plows, this reliability on the snow plows means that students have the sense of mind that the roads will be clear when they leave their house, when in fact the roads are in terrible condition. How are the students to trust the call of Haddad when time and time again he misjudges the condition of the roads? This should reflect poorly on the intellect of the Superintendent. Not only this, but Haddad states "when the district remains open, but you believe that weather conditions in your specific area are problematic for transporting your student to school, please feel free to contact your school's attendance clerk to obtain an excused absence for your student." This statement relies too heavily on the parents and students ability to judge the condition of the roads. Furthermore, for a single student to miss class would mean that the student would be further behind in that class than the other students.                                  Thank your for considering the removal of Don Haddad as the acting superintendent of the St. Vrain Valley School District. long story short, Haddad has proven time and time again that he is incapable of making the correct judgement of whether a school should be open or not.
