Tamil Nadu is the land of rich heritage and culture. We Tamil people celebrate many festivals with great tradition. Among those festivals Karthigai deepam and Thaipoosam is being celebrated by our Tamil people for more than three thousand years. Before the advent of deepavali and pongal, Karthigai deepam is the great festival of Tamils and you could find more references in our classical Sangam literatures.

We have holidays for Telugu new year, Mahaveer jayanthi in our Tamil land. But is it unfortunate that there is no public holiday for our own Tamil festival.

So we humbly request you to declare public holiday for Karthigai deepam and Thaipoosam for upcoming 2021.
