Take back the rule regarding ex-husbands' name on divorced women's passports!

The Issue

Myself and many other women who are divorced, both in my personal circle and on social media, are against the decision to have our ex-husband's name mentioned on our passports. We came out of abusive marriages to no longer be connected to those men, yet this policy forces us back into that unwanted association.

This decision is not only a violation of our privacy but also an emotional burden. It disregards the trauma and hardship we endured in those relationships. According to a study by the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV), 1 in 4 women will experience severe intimate partner violence in their lifetime. Forcing us to carry our abuser's name on official documents is a constant reminder of that painful past.

We urge the government to respect our autonomy and dignity by removing this requirement immediately. Please sign this petition to support all divorced women seeking freedom from their pasts!
